A Berry Merry Summer - June 2013 event

It is official: the British summer has arrived here for us with the usual fanfare and trimmings, aka, rain and unpredictable weather. But that never stops us from enjoying every moment of it. The greatest advantage of the summer for us is the arrival of fresh and juicy berries. Oh! those enjoyable moments when tiny fruits, produced from single ovary, just bursts out with full flavour and taste in our mouth cannot be described. You just have to experience it to know :) Not only do they taste good, they are low in calories, high in fibre, antioxidants, flavonoids and packed with vitamins and minerals. Some examples here:
  • Just a handful of 40 blueberries contains 7.5 times more antioxidant than a small banana.
  • Flavonoids in raspberries are responsible for their red flesh.
  • Just 9 strawberries provide you with your whole recommended daily allowance for Vitamin C.
  • The many tiny seeds in blackberries make them a fantastic source of fibre.

Well, the list is never ending. But I am looking for some great ways to enjoy these awesome berries. Yes, they make excellent snacks. But I am looking for something more. There must be millions of way to enjoy these tasty little treats.
